The makers of low cost and easy to use thermostats, security cameras, and doorbell cameras, Vivint has emerged as one of the major companies in the smart home scene.
Forbes profiled Vivint Smart Homes, a company that was estimated to be worth $2 billion and earned $650 million in revenue last year.
The Utah-based company is powered by 2,500 door-to-door salespeople across the United States, Canada, and New Zealand that convince homeowners of the benefits of an internet-connected home. Instead of selling individual smart home devices, Vivint relies on a subscription model where users pay monthly rates that average between $480 and $960 per year for contracts that last between three-and-a-half and five years.
