HousingWire looks at data from the Harvard Joint Center for Housing and the U.S. Census Bureau’s third-quarter homeownership report to find out why people don’t get a mortgage.
The analysis found that the main reason mortgage applications are low is because people cannot afford the purchase or upkeep of a home. Following in a close second is that many don’t have good enough credit for a mortgage. These two points were given by more than 50 percent of the respondents.
