Civil rights activists have accused Fannie Mae of neglecting its inventory of foreclosed properties in working-class minority neighborhoods. They say the lending giant is allowing homes in those areas to deteriorate while it focuses on more affluent areas.
The National Fair Housing Alliance and 19 local fair housing organizations have filed a discrimination complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development based on a five-year investigation into the mortgage finance company’s practices.
