Contrary to what many may think, the fastest growing cities in the U.S. are not New York or San Francisco, but rather Austin, Texas; Orlando, Florida; and Durham, North Carolina.
According to the Washington Post, metros in the Sun Belt are growing faster than metros in the Northeast corner of the country. One of the reasons credited for the increase in population for these metro areas was the cost of living. In these cities housing is cheaper and allows residents to live more comfortably than in cities where housing and cost of living are dramatically higher.
Other cities that topped the list of “fastest growing” included Henderson, Nevada; Denver, Colorado; and Fort Worth, Texas.
