The average amount buyers put down for their mortgages last year was 14 percent of purchase price, translating to an average $32,141, RealtyTrac found.
In 25 of the most expensive counties, the average down payment was 24 percent, or $138,547. This percentage is twice the average in the 25 lowest-priced counties, where buyers put down 12 percent, or $8,239.
When it comes to Millennial homebuying, the 25 counties with the biggest increase in Millennials saw an average 17 percent downpayment, or $66,174.
