Boston firm ISA designed four townhouses in the Roxbury neighborhood that produce more energy and hot water than the average homeowner uses.
According to Dezeen, the project won a competition organized by the city council. The townhomes are placed tiered on a hill, optimizing solar orientation for the panels on their roofs.
The homes are highly insulated, using triple-glazed windows, and excess energy can be sold back to the grid by the homeowners.
