The NAR’s monthly gauge of builder confidence for single-family homes ticked down in December to a seasonally adjusted 57 from 58 in November, The Wall Street Journal reports.
In New England, the index hit 51, which means only a few more builders see conditions as good than those that think conditions are poor – a reading above 50 means a majority of builders are optimistic about their market. In the West, builder sentiment was at 74 in December from 60 in November, the highest reading for any region since December 2005.
