Twenty years ago, developer Kiki Wallace hired the renowned New Urbanist architects Duany Plater-Zyberk to create a walkable, livable community in Colorado, Planetizen reports.
The architects seamlessly integrated accessory dwelling units (ADUs) that blended into the town overall. These days, the ADUs make the community more popular than ever, for homeowners and renters alike. “Homeowners don’t feel threatened and [renters] have privacy,” Wallace notes about the ADUs that are more often leased than sold.”There’s no invasion of privacy, and they bring in subsidies for the landlord.”
