Just behind installing grab bars in the bathroom and higher toilets, curb-less showers is among the top aging-in-place remodeling project, according to the National Association of Home Builder’s Remodeling Market Index for the 2018 fourth quarter.
Curb-less showers were about as common as installing wider doorways when the association began asking aging-in-place remodeling questions in 2004. Yet over the years, the share of NAHB remodelers installing curb-less showers grew from 54% to 82%. Two other projects on the list that reached all-time highs are non-slip floors, 35%, and easy-to-read thermostats, 15%.
