One Detroit homeowner purchased a four-bedroom 1929 Tudor Home without a mortgage to worry about, The Washington Post reports.
Jazley Trouser, a 25-year-old Home Depot worker, bought her home with a $1,000 bid on the city’s online auction site and a $25,000 grant from a community bank to cover renovation costs.
The online auction program is part of the city’s effort to clear out inventory of vacant houses and reduce blight by demolishing structures that are beyond repair and auctioning ones that are salvageable.
