The National Center for Health Statistics’s data on U.S. births posted a 1 percent increase from 2013, “and the first increase in the fertility rate since 2007,” the report says.
According to the Calculated Risk Blog, births declined for five consecutive years prior to increasing in 2013. Births are still about 7.7 percent below the 2007 peak, when birth rates were at an all time, higher even than during the “baby boom.”
