Many baby boomers in the D.C. region are opting to stay away from townhomes and rowhomes and build single-level homes that offer a simpler style of living, the Washington Post reports.
Mature couples are seeking homes or places where they can build that allow them to be in walking distance to shops, restaurants, and public transportation. Due to a lack of inventory in D.C., builders are seeing a bit of a boom from older couples who want to build affordable homes in desirable areas.
