In light of National Energy Awareness Month, WalletHub measured the energy efficiency of homes and cars in each of 48 states.
To identify the energy efficiency of a state, WalletHub analyzed 48 states based on two key dimensions: “home-related energy efficiency” and “car-related energy efficiency.” The former is calculated by the ratio between total residential energy consumption and annual degree days. Vermont tops the list in the overall rankings, while Utah tops the list solely based on home-related energy efficiency. South Carolina scored poorly in both criteria.
