It’s only taken a few decades, but the levels of first-time homebuyers are beginning to increase, albeit slowly.
According to MarketWatch and the National Association of Realtors, first-time homebuyers made up 32 percent of the total for people purchasing homes in December 2015. That’s 2 percent higher than November 2015 and a 3 percent rise from December 2014.
However, first-time buyers only made up 30 percent of the total market for all of 2015, up only 1 percent from both 2014 and 2013. That number is still well below the historical average of 40 percent.
