Florida slashes energy-efficiency goals and will end solar rebate programs

Environmental groups may challenge the proposal’s legality because it would leave utilities without energy-efficiency requirements.

Florida regulators approved proposals to cut Florida's energy-efficiency goals by more than 90 percent and to end solar rebate programs by the end of 2015. The move could be headed for a court challenge, though. Environmental groups questioned whether regulators might have violated state law with a policy that leaves no energy-efficiency requirements for utilities.
