Smart home tech is becoming more ubiquitous. The Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies’ Remodeling Futures program will keep tabs on what’s going on.
According to the JCHS, the research program will “measure the current and future size of this market, investigate the most promising technologies and services for homeowners, identify key players operating in the market, and explain homeowners' perceptions of the benefits and drawbacks to automating their homes.”
A 2015 study by the The Demand Institute found that, of homeowners who expected to undertake a home improvement project, nearly half said they were excited to add more smart home technology into their homes.
