Business Insider summarizes some key findings from an NAR report to point out interesting trends taking place in the housing market.
Household composition is shifting. Multigenerational households today make up 13 percent of buyers, 21 percent of which are headed by someone in their 50s. Additionally, out of 73 percent of couples that buy homes together, 65 percent of them are married, while unmarried couples make up 8 percent.
Buying habits are also changing. Online searches are favored by 43 percent of homebuyers, and 25 percent of Gen X and Gen Y buyers found their homes on their smart phones.
