With the goal of becoming a smart city, the local government in Louisville, Ky., is proactively pushing devices and platforms that are part of the Internet of Things.
CNET reports that residents are collaborating with the city to bring smart light bulbs, thermostats, appliances, and other new technology into their homes.
The city will have to overcome some obstacles, though.
Louisville is working to ensure that every resident has access to reliable, high-speed internet that they can afford. And the price of smart home devices like smart speakers will need to decrease so they can become more accessible to all Louisville residents.
