The sleek, simple, utilitarian aesthetic of the midcentury modern home may be ubiquitous in California and the urban Midwest, but as The Star Telegram documents, it is only now slowly gaining appreciation in Texas.
“The Millers’ real estate agent had never heard of such a style and said it sounded ugly,” The Star Telegram reports. But appreciation for homes that look like they’ve come out of an episode of Mad Men is slowly gaining recognition and appreciation, especially in Fort Worth, where preservation group Historic Fort Worth is trying to preserve the area’s original homes built in the post-war style of the 1950s and 1960s.
