The Washington Post reports that buyers are responding positively to builders who make pets a centerpiece of their home designs.
Prospective buyers and their pets lined up for the grand opening of a new community developed by Standard Pacific in Brea, Cali., last year, which offered pet rooms as an option.
Since then, the California builder has expanded the pet-amenity option to all 27 of its communities. These features include electronic feeders, automatic pet doors, and special showers and tubs.
Besides the in-home luxuries, public spaces of these developments offer designated parks, exercise stations, drinking fountains, and wash areas for the convenience of animals and their humans.
