Apparently Andy Griffith and Barney Fife were onto something down there in Mayberry. Mount Airy, N.C., the town that was supposedly the inspiration for the town of Mayberry in The Andy Griffith Show, is gaining millionaires at a faster pace than anywhere else in the country.
Between June 2014 and June 2015, the Mount Airy metro area gained 332 millionaire households, an increase of 30 percent, reports The Wall Street Journal.
A household is classified as a millionaire if it has more than $1 million in investable assets, which includes stocks, bonds, and savings accounts, but excludes real estate and funds tied up in retirement accounts.
