The NAHB calls those born between 1980 and 1984 that move out of their homes around age 27, but then move back, as “Boomerangs.”
A recent survey by the NAHB found over 50 percent of those that have moved out return to live with their parents. According to the association, “boomeranging” has implications for household formation “that are at this point unknown but worth exploring.”
