The Wall Street Journal reports on a new trend in kitchen design, saying “designers are beginning to abandon the all-white Parisian patisserie color scheme for dramatic kitchen infused with smoky hues like charcoal gray and licorice black.”
One designer notes that the increasing popularity of dark hues in the kitchen is an indicator that kitchens are now gender-neutral, and others note that the dark materials create atmosphere, an antidote to the sterile white-enameled kitchen recently in vogue.
