After a two year head start, Amazon will soon have a competitor to its Echo smart speaker device. Google will release the Google Home voice-enabled speaker in early November.
Forbes broke down the features and the advantages and disadvantages of each device.
Amazon’s Alexa has more than 3,000 “skills,” developed by outside companies, and can do everything from summoning a Uber car to ordering a pizza from Domino’s to turning up the temperature on an internet-connected thermostat.
Google Home, meanwhile, runs on Assistant, which has access to all of a user’s Google accounts and preferences for a more personal experience.
