Furniture maker Vicco von Voss built a home for his family that the New York Times describes as “more like a giant piece of custom-made furniture than a house.”
Every plank and beam comes from fallen trees collected and salvaged nearby, and hand-milled on site. Instead of nails, the wooden planks are held together “entirely with wooden pegs in an impressive display of mortise-and-tenon joinery,” the Times reports.
