New information released by The Pew Charitable Trusts found that only one-quarter of Americans plan to stop working altogether when they reach retirement age.
According to MarketWatch, 53 percent of Americans said they will do something else, such as working at a different job, when they reach retirement age, often because of the debt that they carry. Debt among families age 55 and older increased to 65.4 percent in 2013 and 9.2 percent of these families have debt payments that are more than 40 percent of their income.
