Job growth is gaining momentum in Orange County, Calif., but home building isn’t keeping up. The county’s leading business association says at least 50,000 homes need to be built.
That number indicates that the housing situation is getting worse, the O.C. Register reports, because this year’s shortfall is 10,000 homes more than a 2012 estimate.
The shortfall will grow to 100,000 homes by 2040 if the pace of construction does not pick up, demographers project.
