The Wall Street Journal documents a trend that has been emerging among more affluent homeowners: the Super Pantry.
What exactly is a super pantry? A homeowner in Minneapolis, for example, has a pantry big enough to store coats and shoes, a desk to work and pay bills, a place to develop photos, and is designed to match the rest of the house. A study put together by the National Association of Home Builders last year reported that 85 percent of respondents put a walk-in kitchen pantry on their “most wanted list,” with 31 percent saying it was an essential/must have” and 54 percent said it was desirable.
