The new and improved porcelain tile is what the Washington Post calls the “holy grail of materials” for both builders and homeowners.
Advancements in technology have allowed porcelain tile manufacturers to produce a product that is huge compared to earlier formats: 5-feet-by11-feet and only an eighth to a quarter inch thick.
So far there are five manufacturers marketing this type of porcelain tile: Tennessee-based Crossville, and Spanish manufacturers Cosentino, Grespania, Inalco, and TheSize Surfaces.
