Australian architecture firm ArchiBlox has designed a prefab home that it says will produce more energy than it consumes.
According to the website Quartz, the homes are between 570 square feet and 947 square feet and feature solar panels, green roofs for thermal insulation, edible garden walls that block out the sun, and in-ground cool tubes. In addition to being airtight to conserve energy, there is a sunroom that keeps the interior warm through a heat-trapping buffer zone. The homes cost between US$203,000 and US$317,000 and have a sunroom, a laundry room, and one to three bedrooms. They take five weeks to build and one day to install.
