Some of the best and brightest workers in the technology sector have departed Silicon Valley and seized opportunities in up-and-coming metros.
Forbes listed five tech meccas on the rise, including Salt Lake City, Atlanta, and Seattle. Salt Lake City was named the top startup destination outside of San Francisco and New York City, and also boasts a stable workforce and low cost of living. Tech jobs in Atlanta have grown by nearly 50 percent since 2010, and the city’s downtown area contains numerous startup companies. The pay is pretty good in Seattle, where tech workers earn more than $110,000 per year.
Denver and Portland, Ore., were also recognized for their booming tech scenes.
