South Carolina net-zero home portends future building codes, says developer

A 2,700 sf house near Furman University in South Carolina is an exemplar of what a home built to code will look like in a couple of decades, according to the developer. The home, which is topped by solar roof shingles, has already changed the perspective of some buyers. “Just having that house with solar shingles on the roof has already changed some of our sales prospects’ behavior,” the developer says. “They are saying they are going to have some of those on our house.”
