Realtor.com reports that home builders are forecasting the recent pickup in sales will carry through the spring home-buying season and are ramping up construction of speculative homes.
Builders are optimistic that this year’s spring sales will exceed last year’s lackluster result. Despite the rising spec totals, new-home inventory remains relatively tight. According to The Wall Street Journal, D.R. Horton is leading the charge into the spring season, as it reported that it ended 2014 with 4,500 completed spec homes, roughly 1,100 more than at the same time a year earlier.
