While the vast majority of consumers believe living in a green home would be affordable, only those in the high-income bracket are likely to say it would be an affordable purchase, according to Appliance Magazine.
The survey, by Whirlpool and Habitat for Humanity, found that almost two-thirds of home builders and consumers thought green features were worth the added costs.
However, while 71% of high-income respondents said that a completely green home would be an affordable purchase, nearly 60% of builders thought they were too expensive for low-income families to purchase or build.
