With low costs of living and good schools, many of the best places to raise children are in Texas.
SmartAsset named the 25 best family friendly cities, and Fort Worth (3rd), Arlington (4th), El Paso (8th), Austin (9th), and Corpus Christi (10th) all made the top 10. The list was based on factors such as the annual costs of childcare, the percentage of income that goes toward housing, and graduation, crime, poverty, and unemployment rates.
Fort Worth beats out the stiff competition from other Texas cities because of its high-quality schools and relatively young population. Thirty-one percent of the folks in Fort Worth are below the age of 20 and almost 89% of high school students graduate. Fort Worth ranks fifth in both of those metrics.
Other high-ranking cities include Fort Wayne, Ind., Boise, Idaho, and Omaha, Neb.
