Tiny Home Plús Hús Created As Solution to LA Housing Shortage

The 320-square foot accessory dwelling unit (ADU) from architecture firm Minarc was created as a sustainable living solution emphasizing Icelandic design.

The prefabricated home Plús Hús asks the question, "What would you do with 320 square feet?" Available in three configurations, the multipurpose unit can be used for work, play, or living: a plain open-plan box is $37,000, a room with a bathroom is $42,000, or a room with a bathroom and kitchen is $49,000. Plús Hús is designed "to be added to most properties with minimal wasted energy and environmental impact," per Curbed and Inhabitat's reporting.

Icelandic for “Plus House,” if it weren’t obvious, Plús Hús is a 16-by-20-foot multi-purpose structure. Each prefab unit is locally manufactured and built using mnmMod panels, a new sustainable building material, and finished with a metal panel roof, Hardie board exterior siding, maple interior cladding, and a sliding glass door.
