As more studies see a trend of people migrating back to cities for the jobs, entertainment and compactness, RISMedia compiles a list of 10 cities that have all the urban perks, but for a cheaper price.
High on the list is Memphis, Tenn., where the median home value is 46 percent below the national median, and the average rent is $709, 21 percent below the U.S. average. Another six southern cities have places in the list – Nashville, Tenn.; Tulsa, Okla.; San Antonio, Texas; Lexington, Ky.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Louisville, Ky. The last three spots not taken by a Southern city – Columbus, Ohio; Omaha, Neb.; and Lincoln, Neb.; - placed second, third, and eighth respectively.
