The Netherlands continue to churn out new ways of designing for traffic – first there was the solar energy harvesting bike path, and now there are traffic-quieting, energy-generating road barriers.
Fast Company Exist reports that researcher Michael Debije at the Eindhoven University of Technology is leading the study regarding his breakthrough luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) panels. These translucent panels in various colors bounce light internally, then are beamed onto solar panels.
The system is being tested, and launched June 18 along the A2 highway near Den Bosch, The Netherlands.
