Parallam PSL (parallel strand lumber) headers, beams and columns are engineered to support heavier loads than comparably sized, conventional glulam or sawn lumber products. Strong and dimensionally stable, Parallam is an ideal choice for load-bearing beams. Builders can use a smaller beam, yet achieve a longer span than with sawn lumber. In addition, because of Parallam's attractive wood grain, builders have the option of leaving this engineered lumber exposed as an aesthetic feature. Circle

In My Own Words"We use Parallam posts to support beams in our homes. They are engineered products, so we know they will perform consistently over time. In the past, like many builders, we built up 2×4s nailed together to create support-beam posts inside a wall cavity. When you do that, you don't know if the right nails were used, and so forth. We made the switch to these engineered posts to be certain there's no warping or bowing. That way, every single time we put these posts in a home, we know that we're getting consistent strength and performance."
