Alexandria, Va., and Arlington, Va., ranked first and second in a SmartAsset study of the best cities for Millennials to live. The study looked at a number of factors including the poverty and unemployment rates among Millennials; the number of arts, entertainment, and recreation establishments per 10,000 residents; the number of bars and restaurants per 10,000 residents; the violent and property crime rates; and the percentage of the population which falls into the Millennial generation.
Only 2.27 percent of Alexandria’s Millennials are unemployed, and on average, renters pay 27 percent of their income on rent, meaning they’re not considered housing-cost burdened. Alexandria also has the second-lowest property crime rate in the SmartAsset’s top 10 and the third-lowest violent-crime rate.
