What Issues Hold the Most Weight for the Upcoming Election? Redfin Survey Finds Out

According to a Redfin survey of 2,000 U.S. residents, housing affordability is one of the major issues that are crucial to this year’s election, followed closely by crime and safety statistics, local abortion laws and LGBTQ protections. With record-high monthly mortgage payments and inflation continuing to rise this year, 41% of Americans surveyed said that their financial situation has improved, a 9% drop from 2020. Housing affordability concerns go beyond just the individual level, as most voters responded that they care about keeping housing affordable and roughly one-third support dense housing.

A record share of homebuyers are moving from one metro area to another as many Americans have the flexibility to work remotely and expensive places get more expensive. Many relocators are sorting themselves into areas where they agree with local politics.
