On an aggregate basis, residential construction costs are up nearly 10%, says Robert Dietz, chief economist for the National Association of Home Builders. Dietz keeps home builders updated on recent economics research conducted by NAHB and what the findings mean for the industry in this first installment of Eye on Housing TV. As for lumber prices, those are up 200% compared to one year ago. High costs and long delays will continue as homebuying demand remains strong.
