Developers in Lansing, Mich., have broken ground on a $33 million affordable housing project in the city's Downtown Stadium district. The developer, Ohio-based Pivotal Communities, and Grand Rapids-based general contractor Orion Construction, expect construction to be finished in the spring of 2024. The completed project will result in 132 new apartments, the Lansing State Journal reports.
"There is a great need for affordable housing across Michigan and Orion is looking forward to working with the local neighborhood and community," Orion Construction President Brad Walsh said in a news release.
The new buildings will provide "comforts of contemporary living which include a community room with a kitchen and dining area, as well as a lounge area," developers said. Stadium North Senior Lofts will be for tenants 55 and older, they said.
