High productivity typically leads to a higher standard of living. The Brookings Institution lists the 10 most productive cities based on their per capita GDP.
The study found that 90 percent of the fastest-growing economies were outside of North America and western Europe, and that U.S. metropolitan areas outperformed the national average when it came to income growth.
“Insurance Capital of the World,” Hartford, Conn., topped the list.
