Money magazine released its annual list of “100 Best Places to Live.”
The 2019 rankings were compiled by looking only at locations with populations of 50,000 or more and then places with 300,000 or more people were broken down into neighborhoods. That’s why locales like Chicago’s Fulton River District and New York’s Ditmas Park made the list. Places with more than double the national crime risk, less than 85% of its state’s median household income, and little ethnic diversity were booted from consideration. Then after analyzing 160,000 different data points to narrow the list further, Money reporters researched the spots by interviewing residents and searching for intangible factors not revealed by statistics.
