Construction interests across California are backing a proposed school facilities bond measure they say is needed to keep new homes affordable. Without a new statewide bond, school districts could force developers to pay for the entire cost of building new schools. That could increase the cost of homes by up to $10,000, according to the California Building Industry Association.
