The housing bust greatly affected the inland areas of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, Calif. Today, RealtyTrac reports that builders are testing the waters there.
Developers such as KB Homes and New West Development are either kick-starting massive new developments or are reviving ones that were stalled or lying dormant during the recession. Inland California is no longer awash with foreclosures and the economy is slowly improving, but the unemployment rate still remains high, which the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports is at 9.2 percent in July, compared with 8.7 in Los Angeles County and 5.7 percent in Orange County.
