The SI-modular wood-framing system designed by Hans-Ludwig Stell from Munster, Germany, is assembled entirely without nails or screws. Houses are constructed in timber simply by using interlocking connections in the installation. The starting point for this concept was Metsa Wood’s Finnjoist I-beams. Thanks to the precision and stability of the engineered wood, the only tool needed is a mallet to knock it all together. Steel bolts are hammered in selected places.
