High-end production home builders in the Dallas-Fort Worth market are seeing resistance from upscale buyers to houses priced at $400,000 and higher. The Dallas Business Journal reports that some North Texas builders as a result are targeting buyers in the $250,000 to $300,000 range, since that segment saw the greatest increase in activity during the past quarter. With sales activity for first-time and first move-up buyers becoming more robust, builders there also are focusing on building in more affordable communities and taking on less expensive projects, such as townhomes.
