In the entire cohort of unmarried homeowners, most are women, says the U.S. Census Bureau. Unmarried women made up 53.2 percent of this group in 2016. In fact, tracked over 30 years, single women have consistently outnumbered single men in homeownership. In 2016, 49.6 percent owned their own homes, with single men at 46.8 percent.
